Silver Lake
JOIN THE CHASE!! HELP ASIA REYNOLDS, famous documentary film maker, catch all of the bad guys. Our series is set in the beautiful riverside town near the East Cape Girardeau area of Illinois across the Mississippi river from Missouri and the Mingo National Wildlife Refuge. Silver Lake is an extreme eco-tourist resort and farming area (mostly corn). Our main character, Asia Reynolds, is an internationally known documentary film maker & photographer who grew up with Elise Snuggles (African-American cable newscaster-lady that types the little yellow info banner on the bottom of the TV screen) and Sergeant Sheila Rodriguez, tough, beautiful, Mexican-American motorcycle cop in the Silver Lake Police Department.
Asia disappears in the first book (It All Comes Out in the Wash), local Patrolman "Chico" (Ignacio Gonzalo) Almonte, super buff boyfriend of Sgt. Rodriguez, sets out to track her on Nino his midnight black stallion with Asia's rescued 120lb. Husky-German Shepard, Zucchini, guiding the way. Asia's politics cause more than one problem with the conservative farming community, especially her documentary on the sharing of irrigation water rights during droughts. When Elise can -- between bouts of jealous rivalry with fellow news person at the KANU cable station, Alphonsine LaDuque, a "prettier-than-thou" irritant around the news station -- she researches leads about Asia's disappearance.
Meanwhile, a local financier is found dead on his new property (a combined laundromat/health spa -- and yes there is such a place, in Boston though), complicating everything. If that isn't enough, an Illinois Congressman is shot dead during a small cavalcade into town. What connects all of this? Perhaps it is the bungee jump, local hot air balloon rides, hang gliders, carnival ride area, white water rafting, private plane hangars or international jet setters that make the small town its money and tend to bring trouble with them? Find out by reading this First Book in the exciting Silver Lake Cozy Mystery Series by Sophia Watson.
The second book in the Silver Lake series is "Snow Angels" also by Sophia Watson (see links to all books in the series below), which features wild Europe, the Outer Hebrides (Scotland), underground London and true facts about international computer hacking set in a fictional context. Cool off this summer or light the fireplace to warm up on those cold summer nights on the coast.
Book three is entitled "That Summer in Silver Lake" which features a deep scandal inside the Silver Lake Police Department and trouble in Asia Reynold's household. For the poker players among us, there is a hot game of Texas Hold 'Em in the Silver Lake High Rollers Casino and an intense drama of "good cop - bad cop" detailed throughout the book. Not something an international tourist area like Silver Lake needs to add to its benign and attractive reputation, gourmet food and upper class acommodations. Take advantage of the deeply discounted initial ebook price and join the chase for renegade Officer Carlton Thomas.
Book four is entitled Solstice, another cyber crime novel. This is Book 2 in our international cyber-crime mini-series, Book 1 is Snow Angels. Jake Wheeler has been a major cyber-criminal, a teenage genius and computer prodigy, a hacker and Darknet webhost, the victim of a ‘copter crash on the cliffs of Scottish Highlands, honorary member of Anonymous, an FBI fugitive and then, finally, an FBI informant.
Literally, life has driven Jacob Wheeler to ground level. A year ago (See: Snow Angels, Book 2), Jake lost altitude off the cliffs of one of the Hebrides islands, possibly the Isle of Lewis. A ferocious wind storm knocked his personal helicopter into the very edge of a cliff. He teetered there until he managed to escape with his survival backpack and a bottle of Glenlivet whiskey. He was to need both.
He made camp and began to change. His perspective of the world around him began to focus almost entirely on his daily needs as a resident of the forest.
In Solstice, he resurfaces into the urban world of London. The night before the Summer Solstice. This should be momentous, and it was. Problem was, it was momentous in a bad way.
Again, Jacob had to run. But, running to his grandfather was to prove to be the best decision he could have made. With all of this trouble, Jake always went back to his family. His parents were divorced and usually traveling all over the world. So, he went back to grand’s.
Jake had begun life as a lonely boy, small for his age. He was a little socially inept, and knew it. He had taken solace in his computers and online reputation from a very early age. He was bullied in school to the point that it made him a little callus as an adult.
This, he was to learn, had to change. During his trials living in the forests of the Outer Hebrides, he learned compassion. Something he had needed.
